Insights of the Masters – Interviews with Leading Experts in Chinese Martial Arts

Over a period of 15 years, I published the Wu Gong Journal and, later, the Journal of Chinese Martial Arts.

Although I published articles on many different Chinese martial arts topics, the highlight of these journals were the interviews I conducted with renowned masters. Some of these masters and have now left us, and while the journal is no longer being published, people continue to ask about the interviews. In addition, there were several interviews I had not yet published, and others I wanted to pursue.

I have been working on a project to publish these interviews in a multi-volume series with the title, Insights of the Masters. Volume I is ready for publication and will feature interviews with Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming, Shum Yee Leung, Nick Gracenin, Jason Tsou, Liu Yu, Tim Cartmell, Li Siu Hung, and Benny Meng.

The interviews contain background on their early life and training, on their teachers and the development of their styles. Each is accompanied by dozens of photos, many of historical significance. The interviews provide insights into a variety of styles from traditional to Wushu to self-defense skills. You will find the interviews to be informative and inspirational.
